Good news: UK and EU citizens do not currently need a visa to visit Brazil for stays up to 90 days. No pre-approval, no e-Visa, no consulate visit required. Always verify with your government official travel advisory before booking.

Currently Visa-Free

Citizens of the United Kingdom and all EU member states are currently exempt from the Brazilian visitor visa requirement for stays of up to 90 days. This applies to tourism and short business visits.

What You Need at the Border

  • Valid UK or EU passport
  • Return or onward ticket out of Brazil
  • Proof of accommodation for the first few nights
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended

The 90-Day Limit

The visa exemption allows a maximum of 90 days per visit and 180 days within any 12-month period. Overstaying results in a fine payable to the Federal Police before you can board your departure flight.

Canadian and Australian citizens are different. Both now require an e-Visa to enter Brazil since April 10, 2025. If you are Canadian or Australian you must obtain a visa before traveling.

Longer Stays

UK and EU citizens wanting to stay beyond 90 days can apply for a one-time extension at any Policia Federal office before their initial 90 days expire. For longer stays as a remote worker the Brazil Digital Nomad Visa is the legal route.
