Where to Stay in Florianópolis

Floripa is a 54 km island. The north (Jurerê, Canasvieiras, Daniela) is calmer water, family resorts and beach clubs. The east-central (Lagoa, Mole, Joaquina) is the surf-and-nomad heart. The south (Campeche, Ribeirão, Pântano do Sul) is wilder, more local, slower. Centro is on the mainland-side of the island and has zero beach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best neighborhood in Florianópolis for digital nomads?

Lagoa da Conceição. Cafés with reliable wifi, the densest coworking scene on the island (Cowork Lagoa, Conexão), 200+ Mbps fiber in most rentals, beach 10 min away, and a community of 5,000+ nomads year-round.

Is Florianópolis safe?

Floripa is one of the safest tourist cities in Brazil. Petty theft on the busiest beaches in peak season (Jan–Feb) is the main risk. Walking around Lagoa, Jurerê, Campeche or Ribeirão at night is fine.

Where should I stay in Floripa for the first time?

Lagoa da Conceição for the central island vibe with easy access to the best surf beaches (Mole, Joaquina) and Lagoa's own bar/restaurant scene. Or Jurerê if you want upscale beach club energy.

Lagoa da Conceição vs Jurerê — which is better?

Lagoa is younger, more bohemian, more nomads, mid-range prices, central to most beaches. Jurerê Internacional is upscale, family-friendly, beach club scene, premium prices, 30 min from anywhere else on the island.

How much do Floripa hotels cost in 2026?

Jurerê 4-star R$ 800–1,800 ($160–360) peak. Lagoa pousadas R$ 350–700 ($70–140). Centro hotels R$ 250–450 ($50–90). Campeche/Ribeirão pousadas R$ 280–550 ($55–110). Off-season (May–Oct) drops 30–50%.

Do I need a car in Florianópolis?

Strongly recommended. Floripa is a 54 km long island with 42 beaches connected by one or two main roads. Uber works in central areas but gets pricey to the south island. Rent for at least 3 days.

When is best to visit Floripa?

December–March is peak summer (warm, packed, expensive). April–May and October–November are the sweet spots: warm enough for beach, calm, half the prices. June–August is cold (15°C) and wet — surfers only.

Best beach in Florianópolis?

Praia da Joaquina (surf, dunes), Praia Mole (white sand, party), Praia do Campeche (long, less crowded), Lagoinha do Leste (the prettiest, 1-hour hike).
